A Skills Development Workshop took place in the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP). In his speech, the Minister of Mines and Petroleum H. E. Mohammad Akbar Barakzai talked about the efficiency of Skills Strategy Development and its impact on the extractive sector.
H.E. Minister appreciated the performance and initiative of Afghanistan Resource Corridors Project (ARCP) for conducting such workshops in MoMP, and asked the project to continue the path and invite more participants from other related organizations to the next workshops.
Mr. Barakzai also appreciated Abdul Mubeen Shahab Director of ARCP for his hard work and efforts in initiating the Skills Strategy Development workshop.
Thereafter, Mr. Abdul Mubeen Shahab Director of ARCP described the content and importance of the workshop.
He mentioned the upcoming activities of the ARCP regarding Skills Development, specifically the Internship program for newly graduated professionals of mining .
The participants had some questions regarding the market for mining skills and the upcoming planning of ARCP, which were answered by Mr. Mubeen.
“The only aim of this workshop is to develop the knowledge and capacity of MOMP Staff and educational institutions in the area of skills development”, he said.
Mr. Ziaulhaq Zia, Senior Skills Development Specialist made a presentation on Skills Strategy Development.
