Mahaz-i-Fidayeen commander detained in Kabul



Intelligence operatives on Tuesday detained a notorious commander of the Mahaz-i-Fidayee terror group in the capital Kabul, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said.

Mahaz-i-Fidayee is a Taliban splinter group involved in anti-state activities. The NDS said the commander named Noorullah Farooqi was detained along with an associate, Dilawar, in 12th police district.Farooqi is a resident of the Shamshatu refugee camp in Peshawar and was sent to Kabul by Haji Najibullah, the group’s leader for anti-state activities.Mahaz-i-Fidayeen was reportedly involved in killing Arsala Jamal, former governor of central Logar province. Jamal was killed last year during Eid prayers as a result of an explosion in Pul-i-Alam.
