Mr. Ahmad Shahir Shahriyar was introduced today as the Deputy Minister for Programmes of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in a ceremony held in the conference hall at the MRRD.
His Excellency Eng. Nasir Ahmad Durrani, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Deputy Minister for Administration and Finance, Eng. Atiqullah Khawasi, several Members of Parliament, the Ministry’s leadership team, members from a number of other Ministries and many employees of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development attended the ceremony.
Addressing the participants of the ceremony, Minister Durrani appreciated the hard work and commitment of Mr. Mohammad Tariq Ismati, the former Deputy Minister for Programmes. Minister Durrani then outlined the professional background and experience of Mr. Ahmad Shahir Shahriyar and described him as a qualified and appropriate person for the position to which he has been appointed.
“His education and professional experience makes Shahriyar very suitable for the position of Deputy Minister for Programmes. I encourage the employees of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development to work with him and support his transition into this new role” Minister Durrani remarked.
Minister Durrani described the newly-appointed Deputy Minister as a bridge between the MRRD and World Bank, after Mr. Shahriyar joins MRRD from the World Bank.
The Human Resources Director of the Ministry read out decree Number 303, dated 09/May/2015 from the Presidential Office of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan regarding the appointment of Mr. Shahriyar as Deputy Minister for Programmes of the MRRD.
Mr. Shahriyar thanked the Minister and all those present for their warm welcome and committed to carry out his responsibilities to deliver the Ministry’s programmes to benefit the rural people of Afghanistan. He emphasized the importance of team work and said how much he looked forward to working with his new team in the Ministry.
