Eng. Nasir Ahmad Durrani, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) has formally inaugurated the National Employment Generation Program for Peace – Maintenance Cash Grant Project under the National Solidarity Programme of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/NSP) in Khost province.
A sum of AFN 79 million has been allocated for the MCG Project, initially designed to launch in Zazi Maidan, Manodzayi and Gurbuz districts of Khost province. The MCG Project will cover 146 communities in the districts mentioned. The commencement of the project will provide 9198 individuals with employment opportunities. Also, 229 thousand labour days will be created and necessary facilities would be provided to 28513 rural families.
In continuation to the inauguration of MCG project, the MRRD Minister has also handed over thirty-two infrastructure projects, already completed through the MRRD/NSP in Khost province.
These projects include: gravelling of 6.9-km rural road, extension of water supply network 2557-m in length, construction of three social centers, protection wall 1421 meters in length, retaining wall 234 meters in length, irrigation canal 400 meters in length, 17 water intakes, construction of 22 safe drinking water reservoirs, concreting of pathways 205-m in length and excavation of 55 water wells along with installation of hand pumps. The projects benefitting 5,228 households in various communities have been completed at a sum of AFN 35 million and 886 thousand financed by the MRRD/NSP.
