Afghan Ambassador Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal and Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar have agreed on the need for enhanced economic cooperation between Kabul and Islamabad.
During a meeting in Islamabad on Saturday, Zakhelwal and Dar discussed ways of promoting Afghan-Pakistan trade and developing communication linkages, the Ministry of Finance said. Dar greeted Zakhilwal on assuming his responsibilities as new ambassador of Afghanistan. The current profile of bilateral economic cooperation was reviewed, a statement from the ministry said. The Afghan diplomat said he looked forward to making all-out efforts to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in diverse fields. Zakilwal believed there was great scope for building the volume of bilateral trade and augmenting economic relations. He promised sustained focus on these areas. While referring to the commitment of both sides to stronger cooperation, Dar mentioned the projects Pakistan has undertaken in Afghanistan as a goodwill gesture.
