AAIP along with CABI conduct training in Animal Quarantine Network



Afghanistan Agricultural Inputs Project (AAIP) of Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) has been establishing Quarantine Stations Network (animal and plants) throughout Afghanistan. This network will have 11 stations in Kabul and bordering provinces where products are passing through.

This two-day training was focusing on quarantine networking, issuing of certificate for exporting and importing products, and laws and regulations. It also explored how these rules and regulations should be implemented. Representatives from bordering provinces where these stations are establishing i.e. Balkh, Herat, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Khost, Nimroz and Faryab were invited.AAIP has tasked CABI to identify what is required for each establishing quarantine station in each province and Kabul. This includes layout of buildings, human resources and expertise, equipments and networking system.Prior to the training workshop, coordination meeting between CABI Central & West Asia – Pakistan and AAIP of MAIL was held.. During the meeting, CABI shared their findings and final draft. Technical deputy minister Mr. Mir Amandudin Haidari, director of plant protection of MAIL Mr. Abdul Wodood Ghorbandi and representative of AAIP Mr. Salim Rahimi attended the meeting and reviewed the report. After a close look, essential points were noticed and recommended for reconciliation.
