Five suicide bombers were killed after they stormed the National Directorate of Security (NDS) office in the Dilaram district of western Nimroz province on Monday, an official said.
The incident took place at around 2:00pm, Governor Amir Mohammad Akhundzada, told Pajhwok Afghan News. An explosive-laden vehicle was detonated in front of the NDS compound.
Later, four suicide attackers striving to force their way into the office were shot dead by security forces, he added. The governor said one intelligence operative was killed and a second injured in the assault.
The security personnel were striving to defuse explosives in another vehicle in front of the NDS office. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
