Helmand police chief on Sunday said ISAF commander in the southwestern zone had promised enhanced support in training the police force in southern Helmand province.
Maj. Gen. Abdul Qayyum Baqizoy told reporters in Lashkargah, the provincail capital, that the ISAF commander made the pledge during a visit to the police training centre in Helmand.
Quoting the US military commander in southwestern zone, Baqizoy said ISAF would assist the Ministry of Interior in managing the police training. The alliance commander also pledged to meet the needs of Helmand police, he added.
Helmand is among the provinces where security transition from international forces to Afghan security forces has been completed.
Afghan forces were responsible to maintain security in the province.
