Taliban landmine supplier detained

mine-plantersSecurity forces in central Logar province on Sunday claimed arresting a militant involved in supplying landmines to the Taliban.


Provincial police showed journalists the man, who was allegedly held with 53 landmines, score of hand grenades, arms and ammunition in Mohammad Agha district.
Police officer Col. Abdul Wali Toofan Tarakai said the detainee had links with elements in the provincial capital Pul-i-Alam and other districts. The detainee’s associates supplied arms to fighters.
In western Herat province, authorities announced the arrest of an armed insurgent. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi, the police spokesman, said the armed individual was detained in the morning.
