Since last year, Afghan National troops have taken the lead for vehicle training, which was previously done by the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
Afghan instructors teach police handling of the vehicle, different driving techniques, traffic rules and maintenance. This makes the police even more self-sufficient.
“It is a great benefit for us to be trained by Afghan professionals for learning to drive and also how to repair the car. This gives us more capability and flexibility. To learn these kinds of skills is something new for me,” explains Niqibullah, a newly joined policeman at the Kandahar Police Training Center.
