Eng. Nasir Ahmad Durrani, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD), inaugurated the start of work on two projects in Char Asiab district of Kabul province.
The first project includes asphalting of 7.5-km rural road in Gul Bagh village of Char Asyab district. This project will be implemented at a budget of more than AFN 57 million by the National Rural Access Programme of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (NRAP/MRRD), with the financial support of World Bank.
The project connects the villages of Chaldukhtaran, Gardana, Qal-e-Safid, Qal-e-Loqman, Qal-e-Koh, Qal-e-Jan khan, Qal-e-Sayed Jan and Gul Bagh with each other.
Upon completion of this project, 5600 rural people will have improved access to local markets and education and health facilities. Approximately 7800 labour days will be created for local people during the implementation of this project.
Addressing those at the inaugural ceremony, Minister Durrani asked the local people to pay attention to the maintenance and protection of the implemented projects to ensure their sustainability into the future.
The second project includes concreting of 4.9-km road located from Kabul-Logar highway to Elyaskhil village of Char Asiab district. This project will also be implemented by the National Rural Access Programme of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (NRAP/MRRD) at a sum of AFN 32 million and 800 thousand.
Upon completion of 4.9-km rural road project, 16993 rural people will have improved access to transportation facilities. Nearly, 2321 labour days will be created for local people during the implementation of this project. This project connects 19 villages.
