The spy agency on Friday said a Taliban commander and his three fighters plotting to launch a group suicide attack on its office in southern Kandahar province had been detained.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement the four insurgents were detained in Kandahar by its operatives.
It said commander Saifullah, son of Shah Wali, hailing from Kandahar province, was detained along with his three fighters. However, the statement did not specify the exact location and time of the arrests.
The NDS alleged the detained individuals were involved in recent terrorist attacks in Kandahar province.
They had confessed to planning an attack on the provincial NDS office with an explosives-laden vehicle in compliance with directives from Maulvi Mansoor, a senior Taliban commander.
