With a cost of 65 million and 844 thousand Afs 74 sub-projects of the National Solidarity Programme of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/NSP) were recently completed in the districts of Ahmad Abad, Samkanai, Dand wa Patan, Sayed Karam, Shawak, Laja Mangal, Mirzaka and Gardiz the provincial capital of Paktia province.
These development projects include: construction of two bridges, retaining wall 2168 meters in length, irrigation canal 2090 meters in length, dam diversion, aqueduct, irrigation water reservoir, culverts, construction and rehabilitation of rural roads 8426 meters in length, excavation of 133 safe drinking water wells, irrigation network 1100 meters in length, and safe drinking water network 1225-m in length. Approximately, 5,531 families in various communities have benefited from these development projects. Since its inception, the NSP has covered 1521 villages across Paktia province. To date, 2228 public utility projects have been completed and handed-over and more than 651 other development projects are underway.
